To access the Decoder options, click Tranx from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

  • There are two ways to connect to the decoder, through a COMM port or through TCP/IP.

  • Click Tranx menu item again and click On to turn it on.
  • Check noise levels at bottom of window (should be between 1 and 80)
  • Lights in status bar at the bottom of the page labeled Tranx XX mean:
    • Flashes yellow every 5 seconds
    • Flashes green when decoder functions properly

[edit] COMM Port Options

  • If you are connected through a COMM port you can select which port you are using.
  • If you are using a USB to serial adapter, the proper Windows drivers for the adapter cable must be installed first.
    • The adapter should come with a driver CD.
    • Install the USB to Serial Adapter driver and note the comm port that it opens.
    • Be aware that if you use a different USB socket on your computer, Windows will change the comm port.
  • Select Comport Options from the Tranx menu, which will open a setup window.
  • Set to appropriate comm port and click 'OK'.

  • The Baud rate of the comm port should be set to 9600 baud.
  • It is not advised that any other default settings be changed.

[edit] TCP/IP Options

The TCP/IP options are slightly different, depending on how you are connected to the decoder.

  • On older Tranx decoders without the LCD display you can check or change the IP address by connecting to the decoder though the Comm Port

[edit] Getting IP address through COMM Port

  • The changes made to TCP / IP address will not affect the decoder while you are connected through the COMM Port.
  • Connect a serial cable to the decoder's comm port.
  • Click on TCP Options
  • To get the decoders IP Address, Turn on the decoder in Moscore-Qm
    • press the Get Decoder button.
    • This will send a request to the decoder for its IP address, when the decoder responds, it will appear in the Change Decoder box.

    • If you wish to cancel press No.
    • After the decoder is sent the new IP address, the decoder has to be reset for the changes to occur.
    • Moscore-QM software does this automatically, however it takes about 25 seconds to reset the decoder.
    • If you do not want to wait or it is locked up ie. the countdown has started more than 2 times, you can cancel the reset by pressing cancel.
    • WARNING If you hit cancel, the reset will still occur, however anything sent to the decoder while its resetting will not be received and may cause errors.
  • Press the OK button to commit any un-applied changes and exit the TCP / IP Options form.
